Penedo's Finnish Colony
Cradle of Finnish immigration in Brazil, saves the memories of its founders, either at the museum or the famous Finnish dance on saturday. Handicrafts, trout, chocolates and ice creams. And yet, we can stay in the rivers that come down from Itatiaia National Park without any pollution.
City-tour 3 to 4 hours visiting the waterfalls, trout production, artists, and its history since the 19th century (the golden age of coffee). From the arrival of the Finns until the present day.
Visconde de Mauá Region
The region of Visconde de Mauá is located at 1.200m of altitude and it has a peculiar geography. It belongs to two states - Rio de Janeiro and Minas Gerais, and the "Black River" is the natural divider of them. The region comprises 3 villages (Vila de Visconde de Mauá, Vila de Maringá e a Vila de Maromba) of 03 cities - Itatiai a, Resende and Bocaina de Minas. A beautiful mountain place, where we find preserved Atlantic Forest, rivers and waterfalls of crystal clear waters, warm temperatures, good hotels and several options of gastronomy. The trout fish disput space with different fondues, chocolate, bread, honey, jams, etc ...
BIRDWATCHING
TANAGERS
Internationally recognized by birdwatchers, the Itatiaia´s National Park, located in a strategic geographical position between Rio de Janeiro and Săo Paulo, is famous for its pleasant weather all year long, for the beauty of its forests and rivers and for the enormous diversity of birds, including endemic species. In both areas (the higher and the lower one) we can search for the Saffron Toucanet, Scaled Woodcreeper, Dusky-legged Guan, Violet-capped Woodnymph, Star-throated Antwren and Reddish-bellied Parakeet.
Also have the opportunity to bird on trails looking for Brazilian Ruby, Black-breasted Plovercrest, Frilled Coquette, Black and Gold Cotinga, Diademed Tanager, Itatiaia Spinetail and Araucaria Tit-Spinetail, among others.
Enjoy at least two full days of birding in the Park.
